Saw this pattern in a magazine a couple of years back. Made out of oriental fabrics and had cut too many strips. Not wanting to waste fabric, the strips were perfect for the border. I wasn't sure how flying geese would look on an oriental design, turned out great and quilting pattern chosen was perfect. |

His Gift to the World - Teacher Ribbon) |
60" x 70" |
My inspiration came from a study of books about Angels, workbooks by Joen Wolfrom, photos by Anne Geddes, and art of Susan S. Boulet. Figures are foundation pieced, raw-edged machine appliqué with cottons, satins, netting, hand-dyed, and commercial. Details are enhanced with threadwork using Sulky solids and variegated colors. Background is designed and pieced to support the figures. Star fabric was designed and printed on my computer. Gail Belmont used 8 oz batting, and nimbi threads for her freehand machine quilting. |

Not My Grandmother's Flower Garden! |
90" x 106" |
A friend gave this top to me and I asked if it had been her gma's. The title was her answer--not my gma's either! In the spirit of our ancestors who were so talented at demonstrating thrift, I attempted to see value in the discarded top, appliquéd a border to the uneven, out of square top to correct the "corner" problems and salvaged an unwanted top. The floral bouquet of crocheted flowers are yard sale discards I've picked up for pennies over the years and a few newer ones given to me by my Mother in law. Not a bad save! |

The vest was inspired by one of Jane Donaldson's and Linda Taylor's classes. I took some Quilters Dream Cotton batting, sprayed it and used it to trapunto my butterflies.
